Forum to Discuss How Russian Higher Education Can Help Train Personnel for Africa
On 27 July, as part of the business programme of the Russia–Africa Economic and Humanitarian Forum, the panel discussion ‘Cooperation in Higher Education in Modern Geopolitical Conditions’ will be held within the track entitled ‘Humanitarian and Social Sphere: Working Together for a New Quality of Life’. The session will be moderated by Andrey Fursenko, Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation. The following participants are expected to attend the session: Mohamed Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Egypt; Valery Falkov, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation; Dmitry Kobylkin, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Ecology, Natural Resources and Environmental Protection; Vladislav Panchenko, Vice-President, Russian Academy of Sciences, Vice-President, National Research Centre “Kurchatov Institute”, and others.
The formation of new sustainable ties between Russian and African universities will be among the most important issues at the Forum. Expansion of personnel training for priority sectors of the African economy and humanitarian sphere, ensuring sustainable development of Russia and Africa require the formation of joint research and educational centres in areas of mutual interest in scientific and technological development, creation of new tools for cooperation in the humanitarian field. The discussion will address the problems of developing long-term partnerships that would facilitate the exchange of knowledge and experience between Russia and Africa, new forms of cooperation for targeted training in the interests of the growing industry of African countries that Russian higher education can offer.
“We can export by dumping some goods that are not outstanding. Or we can go in a completely different direction and try to export ideas. Exporting the scientific agenda is real. We have had some success in it. Many mega-instruments that are being created and have been created around the world today are our ideas.
